The Seasons
Every month is magic!

FALL: Enjoy sunny crisp mornings and evenings with daytime temperatures often warming to shirtsleeve weather. A bright pallet of fall color (yellows, reds, oranges) is provided by the aspens, willows, Klamath Plums, and many other plants you’ll find on the ranch. The fall provides a prime opportunity for hiking, biking, bird watching, and is a great time to visit Crater Lake before winter closes hiking trails.

“My husband and I need a break from the stress of work, school, and life. We were so impressed with the quality of the cabin and surroundings. Thanks for the quiet and beauty. We loved our time here. Eric and Jessica; Tracy, CA

WINTER: Establish a family tradition and enjoy the holidays in your comfy cabin. You have everything needed; full kitchen, games, snowshoes, and the great outdoors to explore. Watch for the resident bald Eagles and other raptors in the area. The weather is cold but sunny and we often have snow for that snowman the kids love to build. See Crater Lake in her magnificent winter glory.

“Thanks for the great stay! Rivers Edge was an excellent place to spend our holiday, and it was as beautiful as a postcard. Grant and Nancy; Salem, OR

SPRING: Our springs are typically short and sweet and very unpredictable. Enjoy the migrating birds-take a guided tour with Marshal to fully capture the diversity in this area and understand why Sunset magazine has named the Klamath Basin as one of the top ten birding areas. Wood ducks, shy and skittish, will come up to the feeders usually beginning in March. Spring is a great time to take advantage of our lower rates and bring a group. Barbeques, horseshoes, hikes, and just sitting by the river with a glass of wine are some of the activities our guest like to do. The Williamson River opens up the last Saturday in May.

“How lucky we feel to have discovered Lonesome Duck. We have two little girls and how happy they were to learn that you have horses, llamas, birds, and all sorts of wildlife from our cabin nestled by the river.” The C family; Austin Tx

Summer: Fly fishing season is on. Days are long and warm but rarely hot. Crater Lake is beautiful in summer and wildflowers usually peak in July at this higher altitude. Take a canoe or pram out on the river just in front of your cabin for a different perspective of the landscape. Barbeque, hike, bike, explore. We have acres to enjoy on the ranch and nature is in full bloom. Evenings are cool-bring a sweater.
